# Adding additional domains

## Overview

Adding a domain to Opensense takes two parts: DNS entries in your environment, then setup in the Opensense environment.

:::caution[Additional domains may cost extra]
If your service plan doesn't cover it, there's **an additional annual fee for additional domains**.
:::

## Setup in your environment

Before we can activate the domain to send Opensense signatures, add these two DNS entries to your external DNS, and to your internal DNS if you have one. Your IT team typically manages this.

CNAME (new entry)

smart
, pointing to
whs.sendergen.com
.

SPF TXT (change to your existing entry)

Add
include:_spf.sendergen.com
to your existing SPF TXT record. The record starts with
v=spf1
: for example,
v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com include:_spf.sendergen.com ~all
.

:::caution[The underscore is important]
The SPF `include` statement is `include:_spf.sendergen.com`, with an underscore before `spf`. Add it to your existing SPF TXT record.
:::

:::tip[Using Cloudflare?]
See [Setting up the Opensense CNAME in Cloudflare](https://help.opensense.com/docs/cname-cloudflare-proxy-settings) for the proxy settings.
:::

For all the DNS settings, see [Required DNS settings for Opensense](https://help.opensense.com/docs/dns-entries-must-have).

## Setup in the Opensense environment

After you add the DNS entries, email [help@opensense.com](mailto:help@opensense.com) with the name of the new domain, and your answers to these questions:

Mail flow rules

Are the new domains in the same tenant as the current domains? If the new domain is in the same tenant as your current Opensense domain, we don't need to change any mail flow rules. If not, we'll add the same rules we set up for your main domain. Check with an IT administrator to confirm whether the new domain is in the same tenant.

Account and domain setup

Does the person managing the new account have an email address on the new domain? If yes, they can sign in with single sign-on (SSO). If not, we'll link the new account to their domain account: send us a list of all the email addresses that need to manage the account, and we'll turn on multi-domain management for each user.

Signature design

Will the account have the same signature template as the main account? After the account is created, we'll start transferring signature templates from the main account. Send creative assets if needed.
