# Google Add-on deployment overview (change request)

## Overview

This change request (CR) summary outlines the planned deployment of the Opensense Google Add-on for email signatures in a Google Workspace environment. It is intended for Change Advisory Board (CAB) review and approval.

The Opensense Google Add-on integrates Opensense-managed email signatures directly into Gmail. A Google Workspace Super Administrator deploys it centrally, and it becomes available to users without individual installation or configuration. ## Business justification

This change supports the organization's goals of standardization, brand consistency, and compliance, by enabling centrally managed email signatures for Gmail users. It reduces the operational overhead of user-managed signatures, and enables coordinated signature updates through the Opensense platform.

## Prerequisites

  <div><dt>All sending domains configured in Opensense</dt><dd>If a domain is missing, the add-on doesn't load for users on that domain.</dd></div>

## High-level deployment summary

1. The designated Google Workspace Super Administrator confirms administrative ownership, and obtains internal approvals.
2. The deployment scope is defined (organization-wide or a phased rollout).
3. The Opensense Google Add-on is installed centrally in Google Workspace.
4. Application permissions are reviewed and approved at the organizational level.
5. Availability in Gmail is validated for the target user population.
6. Signature management is completed in the Opensense platform.

## Authentication and application permissions

The add-on uses Google's native admin installation and OAuth permission framework. A Google Workspace Super Administrator grants the permissions once, and they apply to the approved deployment scope.

These permissions are approved during installation:

  <div><dt>View your country, language, and timezone</dt><dd>Allows access to locale and timezone settings.</dd></div>
  <div><dt>See your primary Google Account email address</dt><dd>Allows access to the user's primary email address, and any alias email addresses assigned by a Google Workspace administrator.</dd></div>
  <div><dt>See your personal info, including any personal info you've made publicly available</dt><dd>Allows access to basic profile information.</dd></div>

## Post-deployment ownership

Ongoing management of email signatures, including design, assignment, and governance, happens in the Opensense portal. No further Google Workspace administrative effort is required, unless the add-on is modified or removed.
