# Working with gifs in Email Signatures

## Working with GIFs in Email Signatures

### Can I add a GIF/animated logo or banner?

Yes, a gif file can be used the same as an image file in your email signatures. Banners too, can be animated gif files

### Can Opensense create my GIF?

The Opensense Design team can add effects to static images (note this may incur an hourly design fee). For example, a twinkle or bouncing arrow on a static image. For a more complex animated GIF, your team will need to have it created by someone who provides gif creation services. For very complex GIFs, video animation may be required

### What should the file size be?

The final file should be less than less than 500KB and meet 1x retina standards. The smaller it is, the better

### Is there anything else I should know?

If you are using O365 you must mark the image inline

### I have a GIF, how can I resize it?

When resizing gifs, if you do not have access to photoshop, you should use an online converter. We recommend using this [online converter](https://ezgif.com/resize)

### My Signature has a GIF that is not working on Outlook

- If other users on your domainare experiencing the same issue, there may be a domain security setting restricting the animation
- Depending on which version of Outlook you have installed, you can enable GIFs in Outlook by doing one of the following -
  - Outlook for Office 365 before version 2008 - select File > Options > Advanced. In the Display section, check the box to "Play animated GIFs"
  - Outlook for Office 365, version 2008 or later - use Windows 10 to enable animated GIFs
    - Click Start and type "Show Animations". Click the search result > Simplify > Personalize Windows > Enable Show Animations in Windows

### Viewing an e-mail in your Web Browser (Outlook 2016 or Outlook 2013)

1. Open the message
2. On the Message tab, in the Move group, click "Actions". Then, click "View in Browser"
