# HTML and field types (legacy templates)

## Overview

These articles explain the fields and template logic you can use in pre-2022 templates. These templates use tags in `$tag;` format. If your template uses Liquid tags such as `{{field}}`, use [HTML and field types (Liquid templates)](https://help.opensense.com/docs/html-field-types) instead. To move a template to Liquid, see [Converting to Liquid templates](https://help.opensense.com/docs/converting-to-liquid-templates-pre-2022-legacy).
