# Outlook Add-in: Supported Environments

## Overview

The Opensense Outlook Add-in is supported in Microsoft 365 environments using Exchange Online with Outlook clients that meet specific version and deployment requirements. This article outlines supported platforms, version prerequisites, and unsupported environments.

> [!NOTE]
> GCC High environments are supported. See [Opensense Add-in Integration with GCC High Environments](https://help.opensense.com/docs/opensense-add-in-integration-with-gcc-high-environments) for requirements and configuration details.

## General requirements

All of the following conditions must be met to deploy and use the Opensense Outlook Add-in:

- Mailbox hosted on **Exchange Online** (Microsoft 365).
- User licensed through **Microsoft 365** or **Office 365**.
- Outlook client supports **Centralized Deployment** for add-ins.
- Outlook version meets or exceeds the minimum supported builds listed below.
- Outlook clients support **Office JavaScript API v1.10** or later. Some features require v1.13, available on Microsoft 365 subscriptions only.

Not sure which version of Outlook you have? See Microsoft's guide: [What version of Outlook do I have?](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/what-version-of-outlook-do-i-have-b3a9568c-edb5-42b9-9825-d48d82b2257c)

## Supported platforms

### Windows

- **Classic Outlook for Windows:** Version 2104 (Build 13929.20296) or later. Must be Click-to-Run. MSI-based installs are not supported.
- **New Outlook for Windows:** Requires Windows 10 Version 1809 (Build 17763) or later with a Microsoft 365 account connected to Exchange Online. New Outlook updates continuously and has no minimum build requirement.

### macOS

- **New Outlook for Mac:** Version 16.38.506 or later.
- Legacy Outlook for Mac is not supported.

### Mobile

- **Outlook for iOS:** Version 2.75.0 or later. Must be connected to Exchange Online.
- **Outlook for Android:** Version 2.2.145 or later. Must be connected to Exchange Online.

### Web

- **Outlook Web Access (OWA):** Fully supported in modern browsers with a Microsoft 365 mailbox.

## Unsupported environments

- On-premises Exchange (the add-in is not supported, but Opensense supports on-premises Exchange via ExSBR by MessageConcepts — contact [help@opensense.com](mailto:help@opensense.com) for details)
- POP and IMAP accounts
- Volume-based licenses (Office 2016, 2019, 2021 — these do not support the required API version)
- Legacy Outlook for Mac
- MSI-based Office installs that do not meet version and deployment requirements

## Deployment requirements

The add-in must be deployed via [Centralized Deployment](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/admin/manage/centralized-deployment-of-add-ins?view=o365-worldwide#centralized-deployment-compatibility-checker), which is supported in most Microsoft 365 tenants. Microsoft provides a compatibility checker at the link above if you are unsure whether your organization meets the requirements.
