Applying Targeting for Opensense Real Time Personalization Banners

The Basics:  sgenads vs. sgentags

The Opensense RTP Banner queries 2 fields in your Marketing Automation Platform (MA) or your CRM.

  • sgenads: This field is configured on the Contact Record for contacts in your MA or CRM.  sgenads assigns a specific Banner to a contact.
    • The sgenads value for this banner is report_cci_2018:
    • To Assign this banner to particular contact, update the sgenads property to report_cci_2018.  Accuracy of spelling and formatting is required.  This can be done using bulk operations tools native to your MA or CRM.

Sometimes, a specific banner is appropriate for targeted events, for instance.  In other cases, there may be a series of banners appropriate for a particular contact.  sgentags allows you to create groups of banners that will display for a particular contact, rather than a specific banner.

  • sgentags:  This field is configured on the Contact Record for contacts in your MA or CRM. sgentags assigns a group of Banners to a contact.
    • The sgentags for these banners are df-18 and df-2018
  • To Assign this group of banners to particular contact, update the sgentags property to df-18 or df-2018.  Accuracy of spelling and formatting is required. This can be done using bulk operations tools native to your Marketing Automation tool or CRM.
  • If for any reason you would like to apply multiple tags to a contact record, you may do so by delimiting each tag with a comma.
Be sure the sgenads field is zero’d out.  sgenads  takes precedence over sgentags.

    • In Eloqua, use Automation to update sgenads property for desired list of contacts.

Ensure the sgenads value matches the name of the banner like the example above!
