How to Send a #debug Email?

Prev Next

If you're experiencing issues with your email signatures, sending a #debug email helps Opensense support quickly diagnose and resolve the problem. This guide explains when and how to use the #debug feature for faster troubleshooting.

What is a #debug Email?

A #debug email is a diagnostic tool that triggers a flag in our backend system for advanced troubleshooting. When you send an email with #debug followed by 5 random digits in the subject line (for example, #debug 12345), it creates a unique identifier that alerts our engineering team and provides them with detailed technical information to trace and resolve your specific issue.

Important: You must compose a new email—do not forward an existing email. The #debug code only works when included in a newly composed message.

When to Use #debug

Send a #debug email when you encounter any of the following signature issues:

  • Missing signatures - Users don't see their signature at all

  • Incorrect signatures - The wrong signature is being displayed

  • Placement problems - Signatures appear in the wrong location while composing emails

  • Formatting issues - Signature elements are misaligned, distorted, or displaying incorrectly

How to Send a #debug Email

Follow these steps to help our support team quickly resolve your issue:

Step 1: Gather Information

Before sending your #debug email, collect the following details:

  • Email type - Is the issue occurring on new emails, replies, or forwards?

  • Email client and device - Which email platform and device was used (e.g., Gmail on Chrome, Outlook on Windows, Apple Mail on iPhone)?

  • Affected users - List of users experiencing the issue

  • Timeline - Date and time when the issue was first reported

Step 2: Compose a New Email

  1. Create a new email addressed to help@opensense.com

  2. In the subject line, type #debug followed by any 5 random digits (e.g., #debug 67890)

  3. In the email body, include all the information gathered in Step 1

  4. Send the email

Step 3: Wait for Support Response

Our engineering team will use the diagnostic data from your #debug email to investigate and respond with a solution.
