# Editing User Data Guide

My mobile number is not correct. Can you change my title? There a few ways to edit data on your signature. Choosing the correct method depends on your account setup.

The best method to edit field data is the **original way** that your signatures were setup

## Best Practices for Editing Data

- Auto-Sync is turned **ON**, and the user's data **CAN** be edited in the directory > [Edit the directory and run a forced sync](https://opensense.document360.io/docs/forced-sync-from-a-directory)
- Auto-Sync is turned **ON**, but the user's data **CANNOT** be edited in the directory > [Edit the data in Opensense under Users & Compliance, and break the sync](https://opensense.document360.io/docs/individual-edits-in-users-compliance)
- Auto-Sync is turned **OFF** > Edit the data directly in Opensense under Users & Compliance. This can be done [individually](https://opensense.document360.io/docs/individual-edits-in-users-compliance) or [in bulk](https://opensense.document360.io/docs/bulk-edits-in-users-compliance)
- **No data is in Opensense under Users & Compliance >** [Send the user your MySig link to edit their signature block themselves](https://opensense.document360.io/docs/mysig)

## What Always Works

If you are confused about to how edit data on a signature, it will always work to Edit the field in **Users & Compliance**, "lock it", and **break the sync**. Find the steps [here](https://opensense.document360.io/docs/individual-edits-in-users-compliance)

![](https://cdn.document360.io/05b0e12d-96a6-4b75-a423-672ab2be88d7/Images/Documentation/editingUserData1.png)We do not recommend this method first because once the sync is broken, this data field **can only be edited manually from now on**. It is best practice to have a consistent data source in the long term.
