Adding the Opensense signature block to Front signatures

Overview

This article explains how to add the Opensense plain text signature block to Front signatures, for both individual and shared inboxes. Opensense needs the plain text block in the Front signature, so that a fallback version of the signature is available when messages are sent in plain text format.

Before you start

You need Front admin access, to configure shared signatures.

Step-by-step guide

Individual signatures

Individual signatures are set per user, and follow the teammate across all the channels they have access to. To add or edit an individual signature:

1. In Front, select the gear icon, and go to the Personal settings tab.
2. Select Signatures in the sidebar.
3. Select Add a signature to create one, or select an existing signature to edit it.
4. In the signature text box, add the plain text block. See Adding the plain text block.
5. Select Create (or Save, if you’re editing).

Shared signatures

An admin sets up shared signatures at the workspace level, and they’re available to all teammates on the team.

Individual signatures win

Individual signatures take precedence over shared signatures. If a teammate has an individual signature assigned, the shared signature doesn’t apply for them.

1. In Front, select the gear icon, and go to Workspace settings.
2. Select Signatures in the sidebar.
3. Select Create signature to create one, or select an existing signature to edit it.
4. In the signature text box, add the plain text block. See Adding the plain text block.
5. Select Save.

Adding the plain text block

Opensense uses the [[+]] delimiter to identify a signature. Opensense uses any content between two [[+]] tags to generate the content shown in the Opensense signature.

The variables {{user.name}} and {{user.email}} are dynamic: Front replaces them with each teammate’s actual name and email address when the message is sent.
