Opensense Enterprise Applications

Prev Next

This document outlines the core enterprise applications installed in your Microsoft 365 environment to support the Opensense platform. These applications enable secure access, automated user data synchronization, and consistent email signature delivery across your organization.

Each application was deployed with the guidance of an Opensense Implementation Engineer and serves a specific function within your integration.

Refer to the sections below for details on each application's purpose, behavior, and impact if removed.

1. Opensense Email Signatures

Overview:
The Opensense Email Signatures application refers to the Opensense Outlook add-in.

Key Functionality:
- Integrates directly with Outlook to apply branded email signatures.
- Installed as part of your organization’s email infrastructure by Opensense.

If this application is deleted, the Outlook add-in will automatically be removed from the end user’s toolbar within 48-72 hours.

2. Directory Sync v3.1

Overview:
The Directory Sync v3.1 application enables read-only access to your Azure Active Directory (AzureAD) to facilitate seamless integration with your user directory.

Key Functionality:
- Allows Opensense to sync user and group data directly from AzureAD.
- Supports automatic directory syncs, ensuring employee data in Opensense stays current with your directory.
- Operates in a read-only capacity — it does not modify data in AzureAD.

If this application is removed, Opensense will no longer reflect the most recent employee data from your directory. Ensure this application remains installed to maintain data consistency.

3. Opensense Single Sign-On (OIDC)

Overview:
The Opensense Single Sign-On (OIDC) application enables single sign-on (SSO) using the OpenID Connect (OIDC) protocol to streamline secure authentication via Office365.

Key Functionality:
- Allows Opensense administrators to log in using their Office365 credentials.
- Uses the OIDC protocol for modern, secure authentication.
- Enhances login convenience while maintaining centralized identity control.

Note: This application supersedes the older Opensense SSO (SAML) method, which is no longer commonly used. Customers are encouraged to rely on OIDC for all new and existing deployments.

If this application is removed, users will no longer be able to log in to Opensense using their Office365 credentials.
